International Projects

Shoreline Rotary supports international programs by focusing on global humanitarian projects, education, and health initiatives, aligning with Rotary International’s mission to promote world peace. In 2025-26 Shoreline Rotary’s investment of $26,000 actively supported projects across several countries, including:

Shoreline Rotary’s Signature International Project is Talita Cumi Children's Home in Zihuatenejo, Mexico. Shoreline Rotarian Harley O'Neil continues to take a lead role in introducing the community and other Rotary Clubs to the work that the Talita Cumi Children's Home is doing to rescue children who have been abandoned, neglected, and abused. The Home has many needs for supplies and repairs. Based on the efforts of the Shoreline Rotary the Talita Cumi Children’s home is now an approved International Service Project for District 5030, 5050, and Rotario de Ixtapa. A team from the two districts will continue to travel to Zihuatanejo for hands-on help and improvements. This year’s project was for repaving outdoor recreation area at a cost of $5,000.

  Shoreline Rotary raised $15,000 for Big Dreamers School in Honduras, a specialized bilingual educational center located in the municipality of Morocelí, El Paraíso, created to combat the local cycle of poverty by providing low-income children with accessible, high-quality bilingual education. Funds were used toward the construction of two classrooms. Through a partnership with St. Matthews Catholic Church of Shoreline and St. Stevens Catholic Church of Renton, the additional funds were raised to pay for the balance of construction costs.

   Shoreline Rotary contributed $5,000 in support of other Rotary Clubs in the 5030 District including: 

• University Sunrise Rotary Guatemala project empowering rural communities through education, technology, and facility improvements. The $1,000 donation is in support of computers & teacher training.
• Edmonds Rotary Foundation with a $1,000 partnership to support Nepal Project, a vocational training aimed at providing business training for girls and young women in Makawanpur, Nepal.
• University Rotary Foundation a $2,000 partnership for Bukobero Project in the Bududa District of eastern Uganda. The project is centered around building a modern, community-owned, non-profit health facility to replace a clinic that was destroyed by a mudslide in 2010. Since that disaster, residents have had to walk miles on rugged terrain to access medical care.
• Seattle International District Rotary a $1,000 partnership for Tanzania project, supporting the Twegashe Primary School in a remote village in Tanzania with the goal to enhance school facilities to ensure children get a quality education.
