Community Service
Shoreline Rotary is proud of our long history and strong commitment to serving the needs of our friends and neighbors in and around Shoreline through our Community Service Initiative. In 2025-26 Shoreline Rotary invested $21,400 in support of these local organizations and activities:
- Holiday Shopping Spree with 35 low-income students from Parkwood Elementary School. These students spent a morning shopping with Shoreline Rotary club members purchasing over $10,400 on new shoes, coats and clothes. This event draws support from the Dale Turner Family YMCA (they provide transportation and volunteer drivers) and family and friends of Shoreline Rotary who help with the shopping experience.
- Contributed $1,000 to the Lake Forest Park Rotary’s Shop with A Cop, an annual event that pairs local law enforcement officers with children from the community for a shopping spree for the purpose of building positive relationships between children and police officers, provide support for families in need.
- Shoreline Rotary’s Donation of $1,000 to the Kruckeberg Gardens Foundation supported the Community & Educational Programs which subsidize the cost of public workshops (such as the popular hypertufa planter classes), guided tours, and youth summer programs
- Alongside the North City Water District and the North City Neighborhood Association, both the Shoreline Rotary and Lake Forest Park Rotary serve as primary annual sponsors of the North City Jazz Walk. This year the Shoreline Rotary donation of $6,000 financially supported closing five blocks of 15th Avenue NE to vehicle traffic allowing attendees to safely wander and stroll between different music venues.
- The Music 4 Life Program acquires "lovingly used" musical instruments, has them professionally repaired, and loans them to participating public school districts at no charge. Shoreline Rotary’s $500 donation supported this effort for students in the Shoreline School District.
- Shoreline Rotary is a long-time supporter of the Shoreline Historical Museum, a local heritage center dedicated to preserving the history of Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and North Seattle. The Museum pioneered a 3,000-square-foot outdoor living exhibit, where the Miyawaki Forest (now 3years old) acts as the walls of an innovative open-air museum space. This year the Rotary’s $1,100 donation was applied to support the Museum’s cultural and educational programs and exhibits.
- The Shoreline Lake Forest Park Senior Center serves adults aged 50 and over in the North End communities. It is a community partner of Sound Generations. This year the Shoreline Rotary provided a $400 grant to the Senior Center to help with the upgrading of its audio-visual equipment.
- Shoreline Rotary donated $1,000 to the Lake Forest Park Rotary Foundation in support of the Hunger Intervention Program which focuses on increasing food security for underserved populations in North King County, including Lake Forest Park and Shoreline, through nutritious meals, education, and advocacy.
