Join our meeting by zoom starting at 7:30 am.  Our speaker, Kate Becker will come to the virtual podium at 8:00 am.  Kate is the Creative Economy Director and, since 2020 has been leading the County’s economic recovery efforts. Just months before the pandemic hit, in April of 2019, King County Executive Dow Constantine launched significant new support for the music and film industries by hiring Becker as Creative Economy Strategist.
Her role now is doubly significant, as we all try to recover from the impacts of the last year. As the first such arts-focused strategist and advisor to the Executive, Becker works with elected officials and industry leaders to support a vibrant creative economy. Just prior to this, Becker served as the Director of Seattle’s Office of Film & Music, spending her time working to build Seattle’s creative economy, keenly focused on the film, music and nightlife industries. Let’s find out what this kind of work looks like, and how it could affect our own community in a positive way reveal the secrets of film-making and other entertainment productions held in King County.
